Polish secrets - Biskupin

Biskupin is one of the few polish archaeological sites. The settlement on the island (nowadays peninsula) was built in 8th century b.c. It was found by polish local teacher in 1933, thanks to drought that made the river's water level so low, that some elements became visible. Next year the archaeological works started and it turned out that the fundament was created from timbers, so as the rest of  construction's elements.
